History

SwarDarbar, Inc. was founded by Pandit Sandip Bhattacharjee and Susmita Chakraborty, and Marcia Miller. Together, they recognized the importance of preserving, advancing and flourishing these rare and precious artistic traditions, by:
 

• Offering authentic Gurukul training for students of all ages, within traditional lineages, at the SwarDarbar Academy of Indian Arts, in the authentic Guru Shishya tradition, in both the U.S. and India
• Offering side-by-side performance opportunities for qualified students, with current Masters
• Being the principal resource for education and information within Indian classical vocal arts
• Being the leading resource for the most talented Indian classical vocal artists, including highly talented yet unknown artists who are unknown due to their poverty circumstances, within the performance context
• Offering cultural exchange opportunities (India and U.S.) for education within the culture that fosters these extraordinary arts
